Audition FAQs

How old does my child need to be to audition?

Although we admit children who are in kindergarten, only those in 1st grade and above need to audition. For kindergarten-aged children, all you do is sign-up to join the choir.

Does my child need to have previous singing or choir experience?

No experience is required. Your child should love to sing and be willing to try new activities. Being outgoing is an advantage, but not necessary.

When will we know the results of the audition?

Immediately at the end of the audition.

Where are auditions held?

Auditions are held by appointment. When you register your child for an audition and we will reply with the location of your child’s audition.

Where and When are practices held?

Practices/rehearsals are held in Redmond, WA on the “Eastside” of Lake Washington in the Seattle Metropolitan area. All of our Redmond children’s beginning level choirs meet on Tuesdays from 4:30-6pm. You will receive a packet of information at the end of your child’s successful audition.

Do boys sing in the Columbia Children’s Choir?

Yes, and they are highly prized members! We are always excited to welcome boys into the choir!

How do I know if my child has talent in music and singing?

Have others mentioned s/he has a nice voice? Has your child’s music teacher encouraged you to contact us? Even though s/he may not sing around the house all the time, when s/he does – is it in tune? Has s/he been after you to check into membership in this or any other choir? If you answered yes to one or more of the above questions, it would be a good idea to schedule an audition appointment.
